I wrote this book because I kept having the same conversation with friends, colleagues, and strangers on the internet.About money, about heartbreak, about why every milestone in adult life feels like an ambush. Turns out, none of us got the manual.
WINGING IT
...Because Nobody Told Us Adulting Would Be This Hard
Author: Olajumoke Abiodun
Release Date: Saturday, April 4, 2026
Nobody told us that our first salary would vanish before the month ended. That heartbreak would rearrange our whole personality. That our parents were winging it too.
WINGING IT started the way most honest things start: as a rant. I was sitting in my car one morning, full CEO schedule ahead of me, looking like the picture of millennial success on paper, and I could not move. Not because of Lagos traffic. I just sat there thinking: is this what we were all rushing toward?
So I started writing. About money, and why we inherited a poverty mindset even when we're not poor anymore. About our bodies betraying us before 40. About dating in this economy, marrying the wrong person for the right reasons, and divorcing without the world ending. About friendships we outgrew and loneliness we won't admit to. About raising the next generation differently while still healing from how we were raised. About the japa question that splits every room it enters.
The notes became chapters. The chapters became this book. Nine chapters of everything they didn't teach us about being a grown-up in Nigeria, written the way I'd tell it to you if we were sitting across from each other with a bottle of wine and nowhere to be.
9 chapters. 4 parts. Zero sugarcoating.
Chapter 1: Millennials: The Experimental Generation
Conclusion: You're Doing Better Than You Think
Olajumoke Abiodun
Olajumoke is the CEO of MarketEdge Advisory, an ICF-certified executive coach (PCC), and a woman who has spent two decades building companies, coaching leaders, and learning every single lesson in this book the hard way.
She wrote WINGING IT because after 40 years of figuring it out with zero instructions, she decided somebody needed to finally write the manual. She lives in Lagos with her husband Roland and an unhealthy number of to-do lists.
The Adulting Experience
This isn't a book reading. It's an honest, virtual conversation about the stuff we're all going through but nobody talks about at dinner parties. Think of it as the group chat, but live.

Not Sure What to Share?
Here are some prompts to get you started:
#NobodyToldUs that 'following your passion' sometimes means eating instant noodles for dinner.
#NobodyToldUs that your first 'real job' paycheck disappears faster than it arrives.
#NobodyToldUs that some friendships don't survive different life stages—and that's okay.
#NobodyToldUs that burnout isn't a badge of honor, it's a warning sign.
#NobodyToldUs that asking for help is actually the bravest thing you can do.
#NobodyToldUs that 'adulting' is just making it up as you go and hoping for the best.
